Well put together structures and organizations start with a solid foundation. A solid foundation is essential to getting us to where we want to go.
There are times where we need to build on our foundation.
There are times where we need to reinforce our foundation.
2024 was an opportunity for me to do both. Hopefully it was for you too. Either way, 2025 is your opportunity.
A key component to evaluating your foundation is through self reflection. I recognized how fortunate I was to have worked with great people, teach great students and coach so many great players over the course of my 22+ year educational and coaching career. Opportunities afforded me by district officials from a variety organizations have allowed me to grow. These experiences have taught me lessons allowing me to develop the Wolff Way philosophy. In 2024, I got off the porch and created Wolff Learning. I am building.
For 2025, ask yourself- what is your foundation? How can you build on it? Are you able to get off the porch and take a healthy risk?
In 2010 I completed my Master's degree in Educational Leadership at Wilkes University. This degree allowed me to serve as a school administrator for almost 10 years, culminating in a promotion to my current role as the Director of Human Resources for the Scranton School District. Then an interesting thing happened.
I did not get a position I was seeking.
Self reflection forced me to recognize that I needed to reinforce my foundation through additional training. I got back in the lab and enrolled in a Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility program to expand my knowledge base to support my experience.
For 2025, ask yourself how you can reinforce your foundation? What additional training or experience can gain to put yourself on solid ground?
This can apply in any workplace, in any role. This can apply to business leaders, school administrators, teachers, students or players.
