No brakes, but off the pedal

F- Find a way
Keep going but sometimes we need to take the foot off the pedal.
The O in the Wolff Way is for Off Time. This is an essential component for our body and mind to recharge. If we keep the pedal all the way down for too long, we begin to see changes in our mental, emotional, and physical health. As I wrote in the O-Off Time blog entry, I know I can't keep the (lightning) fast pace. I know I wear down.
I have had the pedal down for an extended stretch. I need a breather from the lightning fast pace.
Sooo, with that in mind I thought I thought this would be a good time to share a blog I wrote on August 24, 2018. It still applies today. At that time I was a principal of an elementary school and finding my footing in the new role. You can find it below.
The song is from the Dave Matthews Band:
One of my favorite artists begins a song:
"To change the world, start with one step.
However small, the first step is hardest of all.
Once you get your gate, you will walk in tall".
Although we all may not have plans to change the world, I think this thought process is a great starting point for any big change, adjustment, or challenge we face in our lives. In the past I have used these lyrics for my basketball teams and school staff to focus on the little things. Not to get overwhelmed by a big obstacle. To take that first step.
This applies to all areas of our life. There are times we feel that a change, adjustment, or challenge cannot be accomplished because we look at the entire task at once. This situation requires us to break it down piece by piece. Small goal by small goal. Small step by small step.
Once you begin to reach these small goals, they start to add up. Small goals become big goals. You gain confidence. You get your gate.
Take on your challenge whether it is mental, physical, social, or emotional in nature.
Don't be afraid to walk in tall.
